Call us right away if:

  • A hospital or rehab discharge planner is talking about long-term or nursing home care

  • Medicare’s rehab days are running out and the facility is asking how you’ll pay

  • The nursing home is asking about a Medicaid application

  • Your parent can no longer sign documents, or has no power of attorney

  • A Medicaid application was denied or is stuck

  • The spouse at home is worried about how they’ll pay their own bills

What happens when you call

  1. We listen first. On a free 15-minute call, we learn what’s happening and tell you honestly whether we can help.

  2. We review the full picture. Income, savings, the home, and any existing will, trust or power of attorney.

  3. We explain your lawful options. Michigan Medicaid has strict rules. We show you what can still be protected, especially for the spouse at home, and what each option costs and risks.

  4. We put the plan in place. We prepare the legal documents and the Medicaid application. Your family gathers the records on our checklist; we organize and compile everything for reporting and submit the application.

Common questions

  • Is it too late if Mom is already in a nursing home? Often, no. There may still be lawful ways to protect savings, especially when a spouse is still at home. The sooner we talk, the more options you usually have.

  • Will we lose the house? Not necessarily. Michigan has rules about the home and about recovering Medicaid costs after death. A plan can address both.

  • What does it cost? We work on clear flat fees, quoted after your free call.

Gather what you can (don’t wait to call if you can’t find everything)

  • Recent bank, retirement and investment statements

  • Deeds to any real estate

  • Life insurance and long-term care insurance policies

  • Any will, trust or power of attorney

  • Social Security and pension income amounts

  • The facility’s name and the date care started
